You'd think that if you are spending $40k on a new vehicle, that the company making it could at least narrow it down to the day when it would be at your dealership. Even Walmart can tell me when they will have an item back on the shelf to the day, but no, not Ford. It baffles me how they can...
PROBLEM FIXED!!! DTC 21 and 14, hard start, dies when given gas
My father called me saying he had explorer problems. He is getting codes 14 and 21, both related to the ignition. The explorer is hard to start, and once it starts, runs rough for a while. Then it will smooth out. If you give...
I tried this last night with my 6 inch larin vise and now its a broken piece of crap.
I tried to press the u joints out with the vise and instead it broke the jaw off.. My beautiful vise is now worthless..
So, i went and bought a 20 ton shop press for $149.99 and pressed them out without...
So I put my engine in last weekend and decided to start messing with the interior. I will do a write up on the engine installation in a few days because I took several pictures of the procedure.
At any rate, my neighbor and I decided to totally strip out the interior leaving only the door...
Bought a 92 OHV and found out it has a broken timing chain.
1. Are these interference heads?
2. My haynes manual only says not to disrupt the timing, but not how to time the engine if your timing is already hosed
3. Can somebody post how to re-time the engine assuming cam and...

hope that link works.
its a small switch/relay under the steering column near the fuse box. Part number on it is E97F-6c625-AA
A google search yielded nothing.
So I am taking the top end apart off this 92 I picked up this weekend and removed the passenger side head. All 3 cylinders were full of water. I checked the gaskets as I removed them and, aside from the intake manifold bolts being loose, nothing appeared out of the ordinary. Yet, all 3...
Sold my old 93 last year and picked up 2 91s earlier this year. Sold both of them to friends/family.
I found a 92 about 90 mins away from me and went to pick it up today. It has a color scheme I havent seen much.. It's blue on silver and looks nice. 93k miles and has a blown head gasket...
looking at the engine from the front, its about... 6-8 inches to the left of the ECT sensor on the other side of the thermostat.. It has a single connector. I thought it was oil pressure sending unit, but those are typically lower near the pan.
Whats that sensor?
4.0 motor, 1991 X
Thanks
Working on my second 91 X, I am getting several Check Engine Light codes at once.
They are..
code 21--ECT out of range OR EDIS fault-CPS problem
code 24, ACT Sensor (brand new just replaced), or, EDIS fault-coil 1 primary circuit fault
lastly,
code 66--MAF sensor or VAF...
I dont want to spring for a $20.00 code reader. Is there some way I can jumper the connectors together under the hood and hook up a test light or something?
Or do I need to use a code reader for this.
Tranny is back together and working flawlessly except for 1 thing. In all gears aside from park, my reverse lights are staying on. Both electrical connectors are attached to the tranny as well.
Neither the ATSG manual nor the chiltons repair guide reference any reverse switch in the tranny...
freshly rebuilt tranny. All gears work except when you put it in park, it makes a grating noise. When you start it up in park, the noise isnt there, but if you shift to park, the noise is there.
is this a linkage problem, or what are your ideas?
When putting the center support back in the A4ld tranny, is the thrust washer on the back side of the center support made of hard black plastic? I thought I pulled a brass washer out, but the only one I have that was with the center support is black plastic. It butts up against the...
Just need to finish putting the valve body back together and then put the tranny back in the exploder..
Wow. I might actually have it running tomorrow after all...
So far, the hardest part was putting the center support back in. I dont have a spare support to use to check clearances, so...
I'm reassembling my clutch pack on my 91 X and have a question. The kit I got from bulkparts.com has several clutch discs in it, but 2 of them are slightly different. They are the same physical dimensions, but the inner teeth on the clutch packs are different. The two in question have two...
My intermediate band wore down really funny, half gone, half in perfect condition, and the rivets dug into my intermediate drum. I need a new one.
I didnt see them listed on bulkpart.com. Where can I purchase the drum I need?
Joe
I took my transfer case off today in order to clean the governer on my 91 X. As I took it off, I noticed there is a nipple near where the driveshaft bolts up that has a hose on it that is routed up above the tranny where it terminates with a plug in it.
Is this some sort of blowoff for the...
Friend of mine has a 91 EB with 200k on the odometer that has a shift problem. It started out that the 2-3 shift would act odd. It would only shift if you let off of the gas, and then got back on it after it shifted. He took it to a couple shops who said the tranny is shot and he would need a...
Hey all, wierd problem with my 93 EB. When it got cold this winter, the fuel gauge stopped working and shows on E all of the time. It warmed up one weekend and the fuel gauge started working again. Drove it for 3 days straight with it working. Parked it for a week and it got cold again. Went...
I was offered a good deal on a 1995 radiator since mine is suffering from the leaking plastic tank disease. I know the part numbers are different, but can it be shoe horned with little work into the existing radiator area, or will it not fit at all?
