This sounds normal. When running AC, the idle rpm is supposed to increase to prevent it from dying and also to allow alternator enough speed to continue charging. When AC electric clutch engages, it will try to stall the motor without this increase in idle.

One other thing...the tire does not have to have a lot of play in it when doing this test to be bad. It can be as little as 1/8" and it is still bad. You can feel it by doing the test listed above.

I agree. Simply cutting the broken part off the end and reconnecting only adds to trouble down the road. Just because possibly the end is all that is cracked/broken, doesn't mean the rest is not dry rotted and will do the same in a short time.

It took me less than an hour to change mine out. The FPR on mine, is on the front passenger's side of the intake manifold. Look for the fuel line (mine has a braided steel cover) coming into it and then it goes into the fuel rail. It should also have a vacuum hose connected to it to operate the FPR.
