Impressive. I see you yanked the AC box. That sure gives lots of room. Nice to see your so motivated. I wish I had your energy.

    My 2004 Explorer

Sorry to see it go. That was a nice one. I hope it went to a nice home. I know things change, for sure. I am really enjoying my 04 Mustang GT vert with the kenne bell 2.6. Relative to the explorer, its really easy to work on and is very responsive to changes. My daily driver is now a 2020...

I'm not sure the sensor is heat soaking Tim (well, maybe its part of what you are seeing). At idle, your blower is still creating boost (heat), and that bypass valve is open. With the valve open, the boosted (heated) air is recirculating. Honestly, at low load you have nothing to worry about...

I'm sure the guys at Mo's will get you closer, and help you understand the changes you need to make as you tweak. Your moving on from the mechanical frustrations to tuning frustrations.

Mo's speed shop sounds first class

Does holly ahve the same style open loop/closed loop system, meaning when cold its in open loop? Didn't the guys tune while you had a vacuum leak? I'm wondering if thats somehow part of the issue you are seeing.

That would have to be a holley ecu issue, correct?

Marty and Mo's has a great reputation. I dodn't know they are a holley shop also. Thats great news!

Lol....I seem to remember I tried the 'throw money at it till it works'.

The rising costs of EVERYTHING sure cuts in to the fun money. Thats for sure. Do you really think moving to LS coils wold help in this case?

Betty's "I want to be a mule" progress log thread

Situation seems normal to me. :-( It's so tight in the engine bay, its crazy. Hate to actually admit this, but I'm so happy Tim was able to make something out of the pile of great parts I had. I'm still happy to have washed my hands of the continual missery I endured. Self inflicted, but...

So the #6 red led is the cam sync signal? Your getting closer.

Your in it, and your sanity is worth more than $250.00 Sound like you have climbed the ladder of tech support pretty good.

And hot dogs? Don't give up yet. Its easy to say from where I'm sitting, but there is an answer. I don't believe for a second that you wont find that answer.

Sorry Tim, I've been folowing along pretty good, but miss some stuff. I'm very interested in this also, except I have never actually done it so there's really nothing constructive for me to add. The above post sounds very positive. Once you get the injector pulse/ignition spark timing in place...

I can confirm, fuel pressure is factory 43. Is it possible the ignition is 180 degree's out? Does the cam position sensor even get used anymore?

What a second wiring harness(s) worth? We could always cut and splice, keeping the wire colors the same. That would give you double the length.

Going to be a roller coaster of emotions getting Evil happy with this. Tuning via map sensor will be interesting. I'm also really interested in how the Holley deals with idle with a hot cam. I'm told the holley has way more adjustment. We really struggled with running the motor(s) in closed...

"dude, your a electrician and THIS is how you wired it?" LOL It seems the more comfortable we are with our trade the more we can be like 'Ah, good enough' on our own stuff. What are the odds of you calling Holley? I'm sure they have all kinds of great information for you (Since neither of us...

Id think if its off a 302 windsor with the 4r70w it would. What do I know though? I'm not sure how it interfaces with stuff like your gauges, air conditioning, that sort of stuff. You might end up with having to make a holley digital dash work....no idea.

I'd love to see a Holley system in use. I think its super cool that you can use a wideband in each bank and let the holly keep wot afr's at whats commanded. I'd be interested as to how easy or hard it is to control the 4r70w trans. It would be a fun project.
