I just recieved a replacement woofer from a 99 EB today that I bought on Ebay for $50. I can see that threaded area in the center of the magnet on the back. Is there an entire assembly that comes out in order to remove the original? Does anyone have any photos of this process?

Personally I think Michelin tires are good but overated.... but it is your choice that matters. I have had longer tread wear and excellent performance with Bridgestone REVO over the years compared to the Cross Terrain, I have owned both. And the Goodyear Wrangler for me was terrible...

Give Bridgestone Dueller REVOS some consideration - I have 2 sets, they have excellent traction, zero noise, deep treads, and good warranty.

Find the origianl dealer where it was purchased, chances are the original owner used that dealer for the recall, and they might still have a record of it.

Just a couple points - Shoot for an Eddie Bauer version of what ever year you can afford - I think the seats are noticabley more comfortable. If you get the EB, the woofer with the premium sound system are weak, expect to have a problem there. Also, see the sticky thread about dealing with...

One other thought - If you can track it back to the original dealer where it was bought, maybe the original owner had it serviced there for the recall. I got lucky on my 1999 4.0 SOHC record search that I bought last month and confirmed with the original dealer that it had indeed been done!

Great looking truck, but.... it is way too high by several thousand$$$. In August I bought a 1999 EB 2WD 4.0 SOHC with 53,000 miles for $7,200 here in Houston, no flaws except radio display problem and extremely clean!

Oil Levels check fine each time. I have not yet checked the other things you mentioned, but thanks for the reply. Not one else responded so I guess it is not a problem for the 03 Explorers in general, just mine.

Has anyone experienced their oil pressure gauge operating intermittantly? My 4.0 SOHC '03 has 51,000 miles and sometimes while driving the check gauge light comes on and the oil gauge shows no pressure. Then awhile later it returns to normal. What's up with that?

Sounds like you have checked the obvious things... I have not had that particular problem before, but if you don't hear the fuel pump with the key just turned to the on position, then that's probably it. You might try the "Search" feature here for fuel pump and see if you can find any other...

Pmill - Mine was clattering when accelerating from 35 mph or higher; most noticable at freeway speeds when trying to speed up, or going up hill. Never did it ping or clatter as you describe from take off. Many threads here talk about this issue, so read them and try the recommended fixes...
