2017 3.5l explorer catalytic converter flange nut

If you can pull a nut off of another Explorer just take it down to a hardware store and see if you can match it up. Odds are it is metric if you have been trying SAE nuts. If you don't have a nut that you can try, measure the diameter of the bolt, then go to the hardware store and pick up both...

    Check Charging system

On the charging system, I replaced my battery last fall and while I have access to FORScan to reset the BCM I just followed the instruction in the owners manual. I took the old battery out and let my Explorer sit overnight, around 15 hours before I installed the new battery. Then when I...

    TPMS relearn

The batteries die in them and the lower voltage can cause problems with things. Plus at highway speeds you are heating up the air in the tire which will increase the pressure. If the sensor can't adjust or detect the pressure it will cause the warning.

    TPMS Won't Reset

Did you replace the sensor in the tire or the sensor that picks up the signal on the vehicle?

    Away 3mo disconnect battery?

I would of just purchased a battery tender and put it on the battery, then when you get home everything will be ready to go when you turn the key on.

Importance of vehicle being level for oil change?

I have a hard enough time getting under my Explorer when it is up on ramps to take the drain plug out and put it back in. But I have gotten to the oil filter with it on the ground. But you also have to consider the newer Explorer that have the air dam under them, I'd hate to try to remove...

Recommend to not buy a non Motorcraft alternator

It isn't the aftermarket alternator that is causing the problems but the manufactures and or rebuilders quality control. I've had alternators that run just fine at low RPM but get up to freeway speeds and they quit charging. I've had bad alternators right out of the box from the factory...

Importance of vehicle being level for oil change?

You will never get 100% of the old oil out of the engine. Think about all the oil passages and little pockets that will hold the old oil. I also put my Explorer up on ramps, I'll drain the oil and refill without a worry about the old oil.

Paint Bubbles around the edge of the hood

Take it to your dealer. Why would you bother customer service with it before your dealer looks at it?

7-pin trailer socket with round pins?

You should be able to just pick up a 7 pin round connector and swap it out. Since the harness is already there you shouldn't need it.

    Dealerships/ warranty repairs??

No they don't. What do they say is the problem? And if they have no clue get it documented that you took your Explorer into them with this specific problem. You might also try a different dealer but also with them get it documented on what your specific problem is.

Rear climate turns on by itself

Mine did this just the other day, almost scared the crap out of me. This was after I took my 2016 Explorer into the dealer for the roof rail recall. My climate control was also set on automatic but it has never done this since I purchased it in 2016. It appears that they did a update on the...

    Quiet Exhaust

For what you would likely pay for a used exhaust you could possibly go down to a muffler shop and have them install one to quiet it down and not have to try welding it up yourself or using clamps that could fail.

    6 weeks for service?

Local repair shops are also out quite a while before they want you to bring your vehicle into them. I stopped in at a friends shop 2 weeks ago to get some work done on my Ford diesel and the soonest that he could get to it is next week, so about 3 weeks out.

    Coolant Flush (Two Missing Details)

When I have done coolant flushes on my diesel truck I have never removed the block drains since they are in tight enough that I don't want to go to the bother of fighting them. I always do a good flush with distilled water and then use concentrate coolant to refill the system, and since I...

Passenger Door Skin Damaged - Replacing Passenger Side Door

You will also find that even if the paint is the same color that the odds of it matching the rest of your Explorer are not very good. You would quite likely need to have the new door painted and blended into the color of the rest of your car.

    Catalytic Converter theft?

It isn't that complicated. A small hydraulic bottle jack will get you all the clearance that you need to get it done in just a few pumps of the handle. Remember they don't care what they do to the vehicle as long as they get that converter.

    Catalytic Converter theft?

It doesn't matter where they attach, if they can get under the vehicle with a cordless sawsall they will have it in a couple of minutes. They are not stealing it for the used market but for the junk price that they can get for it.

Remote start won't work after replacing battery under hood

Can you start with the button inside? I had this problem once when I returned home from a vacation and had left my Explorer in the garage. Come to find out I had it in reverse and never did place it in park.

    Trailer Towing Advice

I can't add much than has already been said. But I will wager that the trailer will weigh in a couple thousand more pounds once it is loaded with water, propane, food, and the rest of the junk that people put into one. Have you actually loaded it up with everything that you plan to take...

2012 Ford Explorer rear wiper arm install issue

It doesn't need grooves to lock into anything as far as the hole is concerned, that is where the tapered fit comes into play. There are quite a few industrial applications where there are no grooves in a hole where it mounts but there are grooves in the off side of the hole that are molded into...

2012 Ford Explorer rear wiper arm install issue

A lot of times it will be just a tapered fit with the grooved collar built into the arm. The piece still attached to the wiper motor stud looks to be aluminum and over the years I can and will corrode to the point that it looks like what it does in the picture. However that I where I would...

2012 Ford Explorer rear wiper arm install issue

It is a different year but I doubt that they have changed that much over the years. This video is for 2006-2010 years. It just shows a round hole in the new wiper arm. You could always compare part numbers over the years.

    2019 Explorer Horn Sound

Odds are you only have a single horn installed. One way for Ford to cut cost while charging more. Take a look down from the hood latch and see if there is just a single one or a dual. If just a single one you can purchase the dual horns and install them.
