    Jay's 2 stage build

yeah it's pretty wild inside, just thankful it's not blue :) I've installed the calipers, lines and hard lines and bled, and I can't get the pedal to firm up. Next steps are Install the new rear shoes that came with it (I've had 0 rear shoe liner left on my Samurai once and had the same pedal...

    Jay's 2 stage build

New calipers came in from RockAuto. I opted for the powder coated calipers, so lets see how durable they are after months of mud and salt here in Nova Scotia. I'm not a huge fan of coloured calipers, but at least they match my interior and decal LOL

    Big transmission oil leak

Can of worms indeed, thanks fellas LOL :) TBH know the previous owner replaced the rad and he left the trans line connectors on the rad loose, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are more nasties for me to find with it.

    Big transmission oil leak

Actually that's a good call, so I ordered a Dorman 265-831 Transmission Pan with the drain plug.

    Big transmission oil leak

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too since the oil is on all the bolts.

    Big transmission oil leak

Hi, so I parked in the garage to start on some maintenance jobs, and came in to this mess. The pan was wet when I bought it, but AFAIK it wasn't a massive leak. I have front main leak so its wet at the front from that probably, and all the oil on the floor is ATF. Hoping it's just the pan...

    Jay's 2 stage build

Takled the rotten front hard and flex brake lines and replaced them all. Gonna need at least 1 caliper too.

Thanks, that's good to know....FSB or Bronco II?

    Jay's 2 stage build

My parts hoard has hit a critical mass and I now have enough to get cracking. I finally made some room in the Garage to get the Exploder in...which was interesting with no brakes as I drove it into the back wall...oops lol. Started tackling some rust on the roof. Mine has some light rust in one...

    Jay's 2 stage build

Ok here goes, my build thread. It's a '92 and has only 80k miles. The build will be in 2 stages over the next 3 years; Stage 1, fix the current problems, add a 2 inch spacer and 3 inch body liff, bumper, winch, 33's....wheel it! Stage 2, SAS (I have a mid 70's d44/9" with 4.56's), maybe 302...

    '92 brake line diagram

OK, so I went and ordered those lines, and to my disappointment the line with the tee built in, doesn't have the tee built in, so I'll just have to buy a tee. Lines are nice and long tho at ~ 24"

2 things, Front drive shaft and front hubs

Normal operation. You probably witnessed brake drag or some other bind on that side when it stopped turning.

2 things, Front drive shaft and front hubs

If you have auto locking front hubs, and they were unlocked, and the transfer case was in 2wd.then yes it should all turn without resistance.

    '92 brake line diagram

Hi, is there a brake line diagram online anywhere? I'm looking to replace all hard lines and add extended front hoses on my '92.....here's my thinking - am I on the right track? Front Master cylinder -> cut and join existing hard line -> left front doorman h381186 -> split on host -> hard line...

    Deer hoofs with 33's

Sounds like I'll be fine with 2" plus 3" body lift then :) Sway bars will be gone too.

    Deer hoofs with 33's

Thanks. I like a tall skinny tire and ran this exact same tire on my Samurai and they dig well in our trails, which are mostly muddy and woody. IDK what the backspacing is on these Deer Hoof's plus they are 7 inch wide.

    Deer hoofs with 33's

Got me some used 33x10.50r15 KM2 with no wear and a lil'rock rash. Cant wait to get them installed. Before they go on i'll have a 2 inch spacer and a 3 inch body lift. Any concerns with tire rub with that combo?

    New 1st Gen Explorer

Thanks. I've fixed most gremlins and started gathering parts for a SAS. I've got a 9 inch with a 74-ish D44 with drums and 4.56 gears. But I'm stalled whilst I source disk brake parts. So, to get me wheeling I've bought a Daystar 2 inch spacer and 3 inch body lift so I can fit some 33x10.50 KM2's

    front or rear locker?

Also interested in this tread. I've previously run an Aussie Locker in the front of my Xterra. It totally transformed the rig. I'd like to do the same for the Explorer as I have Warn manual hubs. Do we have a list of makes/models for these ?

    Lift kit purchased...kinda

Right now I'm waiting for brakes and shafts, and my contact for all that may have gone AWOL on me. I've got a lead on a 3.50 geared 77 EB axle with no radius arms. I read EB has smaller 260x u joints. Is that a big problem? Will my arms fit EB ? Will TTB 3.73 gears fit the EB?

    Lift kit purchased...kinda

That doesnt look too bad TBH. I'm 10% local, 80% trails & 10% coffee nights, so I'm usually under the radar most times....plus I drive like an old lady LOL I was also thinking of making sliders with rails to give that illusion of width. I can't wait for 2022, so I can put the old girl on...

    Lift kit purchased...kinda

6" for flare for what tire/rim combo? Technically 0" is allowed here, so it's going to be a challenge for inspection. For post-inspection 1 or 2" is acceptable, but we can get pulled for more than 0" but it's rare unless they stick out a lot or you attract attention to yourself. So end game is...

    Lift kit purchased...kinda

thanks! This doesnt need to be a hardcore rock bouncer, so I'm still on the fence with how I want to do this whilst I rebuild the D44. I'll be using it on the street, so if I get stopped it needs to look as factory as possible. My thinking is to re-use the stock coil buckets and move or make...
