    I have a 99 explorer with a manual transmission, but when I got it 5th gear was out and I've been looking for a transmission to put in it. When I get close to finding one its for a 2wd and I'm just wondering how hard it would be to change it to a 4wd transmission?

    The tail shaft for the 4x4 and the 2x4 are different lengths..so if your planning to switch you can only use the one that corresponds with your drivetrain

    So i have a stock 99 explorer and one of the things I dont like about it is that its horrible offroad,so I was wandering what axle I should use or there is anything I should do to it before a axle swap.
