My 2000 Mountaineer has the same problem yours does, have tried adjusting the hinges on the hatch but no success, I think maybe the hinges themselves could be sprung a little but haven't went into it any further,good luck with solving the problem.

Yes, I bought my 2000 Mountaineer AWD last year mainly because it had the 5.0 over the others and so far its performed like a champ even though I don't need the AWD where I live though.

Have a question for you,did you remove upper bolt in the hinges or just the two lower ones on each side,my 2000 Mountaineer has bent hinges causing the hatch to stick above the roofline and causing it to leak, would like to pull the hinges and either straighten or replace them but I don't know...

My 2000 Mountaineer has this same unit and display is a dead player,I have read both the power board and the display board could be at fault,Dorman sells a replacement power unit for these but only place I see them possibly available is at O'Reillys

Mine is like that too, everything works except the display although I understand that is a common problem with these,I have a second one that is the same way.

Your Mountaineer is a twin to my 2000, even the Monterey model and I have the same issues with bent hinges/water leaks, good luck!!

That's how my 5.0 Mountaineer is,no matter how you try to ease away from a stop it just wants to run so just learned to live with it and enjoy the power.

I have the automatic temperature control in my Mounty and just wondering where the resistor is located,under the hood or inside the vehicle.

Dorman number for automatic temperature control is #973-567 That is the number for models with manual temperature control,number for automatic temperature control is #973-567

Well I disassembled my mirror switch awhile back and sprayed inside with electrical cleaner also the spring steel contacts tend to not make good contact but bending them slightly will restore them I had that problem with my Mountaineer.

Wonder if that's the problem with my 2000 Mounty?it only runs on high speed also, I had same problem on a 2000 Monte Carlo O had some years ago and the new resistor solved the problem so that's been on my mind as far as the problem as well as the dash switch but haven't had the to check it out yet.

Well I use empty windshield washer jugs,fill them halfway with water then the rest of the way with antifreeze then shake it to mix well.

Yes it is,both front seats go forward and back the same distance so maybe adding a block to the pedal so she can reach it without straining is going to be the answer since I've had to do that before for her.

Well it goes forward pretty well but she has trouble reaching the pedal,might have to put a block on it,she doesn't drive it often but sometimes she needs to.
