need photos of roof cages, baskets please

I too was pondering this question... And no one makes a rack that met my standards when I was looking. The biggest sticking point for me was the way most of these attach to the factory roof rails. And those aren't too strong IMO. Instead, I built a custom rack that bolts directly to the roof...

I've been busy over the winter...

    Weak story with Mudddddd

That sucks. Was he eating doughnuts while watching you work??? At least he didn't cite you. I am thinking that I could have been cited good... especially since I was stuck between the big "Road closed" signs and after the 20 ft tall mound of dirt piled up to block off the road. HHHmmm...

    Snorkel added and new tires

SWEET. Good looking X. I like to see more of the snorkel setup as well. Looks like it kind of curves away from the windshield?? Was this a kit? Or did you fab it up yourself? Could you include pics of how it is connected under the hood? That would be SWEET. And uh - Could you...

    Smashing Pumpkins Early

Hey John - Good job with the front diff. Danas?? What happened to the Mog axles you were gonna swap in there??? How hard was it to pull out the front axle? And don't say easy as picking up the pieces!!

Tube Bumper w/ M8000 and Safari Rack

HEhehehe... Yeah, It works great for highway traffic. Wasn't the original intent, but it sure gets the slow pokes out of the fast lane when they see the twin KCs smiling at them in the rear view!

Yes, it is 4WD. May seem baffling to some, but this is the first time she has ever really been stuck. After getting out of it - I think ths stuff could swallow most any truck. Kind of like quick sand... You don't know you are doomed until you are already in it.

    Weak story with Mudddddd

We were up in White Lake - North of Novi. It was not for a lack of spinning the tires - and yes, these are 33x12.50 GY MTRs... Not a whole hell of a lot of self cleaning in this sticky crap. I had about 10 mph on me... but was glad I wasn't going any faster. There was about 500 ft of...

Sport Trac After Pics - Bumper and Rack

Yeah - That mud was DEEP. And so soft you would have sunk to your knees and lost your shoes....

    Weak story with Mudddddd

We actually called our friend (since he lives just down the road!) to pull us out with his blazer.... Yes, blazer... it was shamefull. No tow hooks of any kind in back yet... again, shamefull. Now, I owe my buddy a new tow hook for his blazer and a new tow strap since we had to cut it...

    PA Body Lift Question

The Sport Trac kit has special brackets for the bumpers. The front fascia is different on a Sport Trac and Sport in that the grill and bumper cover are all one piece. If you bumper is seperate (and obviosly metal) don't get the trac kit. Your kit should be the same as a Ranger (I think).

    Weak story with Mudddddd

Hah! The wing - I get more $h!t for that than you can imagine! If I wind up keeping the X, I plan to remove the wing and make a spare tire mount for the toneau cover. It's just too hard to throw a spare on the roof and get it down without killiing myslef...

    Weak story with Mudddddd

Yeah, I feel like a Jackass.... We were driving to a friend's new house... On a road marked "Road Closed" 'cause of course that was the only the way wife knew how to get to were we needed to go. Long story short, I took a "detour" off the packed dirt into some real soft CLAY... You can...

Tube Bumper w/ M8000 and Safari Rack

To be honest, I haven't posted in at least a year! My X has been a lot of fun, but my only problem is the never ending desire to keep modifying it... I've actually been contemplating selling the X - Those damn Hemi Rams just look so good sitting on the lot... (bad thoughts) AAAaahhhh...

basket that can hold some weight

I agree that you need to replace the stock roof rails. Being plastic, there is no way thry could handle serious weight, especially when off roading... I like the custom route. Although mine has been working to haul lumber (works great for 18 foot timber!), I built this thing to hold up to...

Pics of my 2nd gen winch bumper

HHHhhmmm.... The pic didn't come through... (Let me try again) IMG]http://www.zjstech.net/~library/1970/'04%20Silver%20Lake/testHill_2.jpg[/IMG] What wall thickness did you use on the tube? I went for a 0.090" wall to try to save a bit of weight. It's still heavy as all hell.
