Just to mention on your question between the manual and auto trans motors. The biggest one on a factory motor is the thrust bearing on the crankshaft. They only used half of a thrust bearing on the auto transmission motors the other half is just one of the regular main bearing.

When you replaced the pump. Ware did you get it from?

Thats a good start, the connector is located on the top side of the frame rail next to the gas tank about midway. Do you have a meter?

You need to see if you are getting power to the pump. Follow the previous tread and read it close I hope the info is there for you to understand (I'm not very good at describing things). A volt meter will help if you have one. Locate the fuel pump module and start there.

I'd put an ammeter on it to verify current draw, and how much. Then if there is very little or no current draw, the battery would possibly be the culprit. Another issue could be a sticking relay too.

Sounds Like a rod knocking to me from your description to me. There is only one way to find out, but I'd get a second opinion from someone who knows motors in your area.

I would say the best way IMO would be to press all 5 studs out evenly in a hydraulic press, so they push the ring out evenly.
