As many of you already know, Ford blend door actuators aren't designed to last for the life of the vehicle. Some vehicles require a lot of work to replace this part while others are not as complicated. The 2004 Taurus has an actuator with four 8 MM bolts which are easy to reach. You will need a 1/4" drive ratchet, extension, radio removal tools, 8 MM deep & regular depth sockets. This is the radio removal tool:

Both of these wishbone or horseshoe shaped tools are inserted into the front face panel, then are moved at a slight angle while you pull on the entire assembly. The actuator is unplugged:

The four bolts are removed from the actuator, then the actuator is removed:

Here's the new blend door actuator:

Plug in the actuator, make sure that the blend door is in the A/C position, then start the vehicle, and watch the actuator turn to the A/C position (before it's installed with bolts). The bolt on the upper right hand corner is accessible through the front panel opening or the glove box opening. The upper bolt on the left corner is accessible through the front panel opening. The bottom two bolts are accessible through the front panel opening or from under the dashboard. The actuator is now installed:

Cycle the A/C & heat, and watch the square notch in the actuator turn. Replace the front face panel. It will snap into place without any special tools.
