2001 Explorer Sport transmission Q

A co-worker has a 2001 explorer sport 4x4 which has never had the transmission serviced. It has 109000 miles, he says the fluid isn't burnt and doesn't smell. We can document the lack of work because he bought it from another co-workers daughter.

I volunteered to drop the pan and do a filter and fluid change, I'll drain the torque converter while I'm at it. I stated this cleaning might make the transmission go out but so will doing nothing.

I have a case of Lubeguard, any thoughts on this product? I've been reading up on adjusting the bands also. Thanks

if its not broken dont touch it. a.k.a leave the bands alone.

fluid change is a fluid change.
