HI,
I have a '97 Explorer 40K 4.0L
To make a long story short I went to a well known brake place to have my brakes looked at, It pulled to one side when I hit the brakes.

They said both front rotors were warped and a piston was stuck in one of the calipers.
They quoted me two new rotors, rebuilt calipers and the best semi-metalic pads. ($$$$$$) I have no need for a wallet now.(empty)

The brakes work great, but the brake dust has to be cleaned off the wheels at least every to weeks. (boring)

What's up with this? The old ones didn't do that.
Is this from the super, top of the line brake pads?

Anyone Know or have a good idea?

Thanks,

Bob B.

It is not uncommon for semi-metalic pads to shed dust. Although it is more common for the el-cheapo brands, all semi- metalic pads create dust much more significant than the stock pads.

They make inserts that go int he wheels to block the brake dust. Yes it is created by the new brake pads. thats why I put in the OEM pads. Next time buy the stock ford ones and you should be ok
