Well my wife was driving home and her check engine light came on, can some tell me what this means, what do I check first???? Please help 2000 Explorer V8

It could be any number of things. The best thing to do would be to drive to your nearest auto parts store and let them hook it up to the computer and see what codes it throws.
 






Get your rig scanned for codes. if you have an autozone close by they scan codes for free or they do here. Or buy a OBDII scanner.. They are relatively cheap.

Well I scanned the truck and came up with a P1056 02 is this a bad 02 sensor????
 






Are you sure that's the right code? I can't find it in the book...

BTW.. if the guy at AutoZone doesn't know either, he'll guess and say O2 sensors...

I'll bet it's a P0156, B2/S2 circuit malfunction.

This is the downstream driver's side sensor. Check the wiring
for exhaust pipe burn-through, and the sensor plug-in.

Since this is the only code, if the wiring is good, then the
sensor itself could be faulty.
 






P0156 Code now the lights out, seems to be coming on and off but I will change them anyway
