I have recently purchased a 98 Explorer with 64k miles, sounded like a sweet deal! Truck was originally a SOHC but some where in its life, someone put in a OHV engine... why, I don't know.

Anyways, they did and it runs good but I have a question about the electronics of the engine. I have 5 codes (171,174 1506 0156 0161 last 3 are permanent codes). I have researched and seen that the SOHC has 2 cats and 4 O2 sensors but the OHV has 1 cat and 2 sensors. I am currently running with the 2 cats 4 o2's, does this mean they used the ecm from the SOHC engine to run the OHV? is that even possible? Are there other concerns I should know about?

Thanks for you insight.

So I did some more diggin and I found that the OHV has 2 before and 1 after o2's, the Camshaft Sensor is located at a different ecm pin location and the OHV has a 'OCTANE ADJUST SHORTING BAR' ???WTFis that?
