    Washer Fluid hose routing

I don't know if anyone has encountered this before or not, I searched but didn't come up with anything. On my last outing with the Mesa4Wheelers I had occasion to park LilEddie while I went on an expedition on foot to investigate an abandoned mine. I parked on a steep hill (Very Steep) at an...

    "Clifford" The Big Red Truck

Decided to introduce my new Daily Driver "Clifford". A 2006 F-150 FX4 with a 6" Lift, Flowmaster Outlaw Dual exhaust, Roush CAI, and a Superchips Dashpaq tuner. Its got 35x12.5x20" tires on it. I'm not real happy about the 20" tires, much rather have 17s but they'll do for now. I'm really...

Installing a 2nd gen rear hatch single handed.

Wondering if anybody has ever figured out a way to hang a rear hatch on a 2nd gen without assistance. I'm considering hanging it via a pulley from the carport, using the winch running the line up to the carport and over the roof of the truck. Other suggestions or stories of what you have done?

    Need Lift information 2006 F150

I'm considering picking this truck up to replace the Expedition. I really like it, its got everything done that I'd like to do (tuner, exhaust, intake, lift etc) The only thing stopping me is the lift. While I love the lift, I just can't see the other people in my life (parents, both mine and...

    Hitch Extender - thoughts?

I have had a few thoughts on towing my camper with the Explorer since installing the new RLC rear bumper. I don't doubt that it is a well built bumper, but wonder about the mechanics of it. I want to use this extension to help clear the spare tire and lower the ball just a little more. but...

    Arizona Desert Beauty Run 2023

EDIT: So far its looking like March 12-18th, at the Lake Pleasant campsites. (Camping | Maricopa County Parks & Recreation) I'm posting this a year in advance because I want people to see it and be able to think about it and plan for it. Avoid the "Man I'd have loved to have gone if I'd just...

    2022 Colorado Color Run

I have really enjoyed the two times I've been up to Colorado. I'd love to go to another CCR, meet new people, and reconnect with old friends. So I'm opening the group up to a conversation about a possible run, late August, early September(?) Anybody else interested? Update 1) Date set for...

    Maxi-Trac Awning

Ok, I know this is gonna sound like an ad, since I work for them, however, I have seen the reviews on Youtube and they are all great. An 8'x8' roof rack mounted awning for 99.99. All I know is we can't keep them stocked. If we get 2 in, they are sold within a day or two with more folks asking...

    Paint mixing cup

Hey, need a simple answer to a simple question. I'm about to venture into the realm of painting with a paint gun, as opposed to rattle cans. I've got about all the equipment I need (thanks to friends at NAPA), but I can't get a straight answer on mixing the paint/reducer/hardener. I get the...

    Towing Jargon

I saw this post in the Expedition Forum and thought it would be helpful here as well. Many people have no idea how to determine what their vehicle can tow. Using your owners manual or manufacturers towing guide is the best way to get an idea. You may even find the info you need on a sticker in...

    Radiator lower shield(?)

Taking a quick poll. That plastic cover that goes under the radiator, does anyone still use that or do most folks leave it off? I assume itis supposed to help direct air toward the radiator, but does it really? I ask because I find it annoying to have to remove it every time I'm working in that...

    Alloy vs steel

Just trying to get some opinions about wheels. Let me hear some pros and cons of each type. I know alloy is lighter, steel is cheaper, some believe alloy is better looking etc. Let me hear what you think, give me some examples...

    Towing mirrors 2nd gen Explorer

Bought these from a pawn shop (I think). Was hoping they'd fit my Explorer but discovered they only fit the trucks that do NOT have puddle lights. So if you have puddle lights...sorry. But if you don't, and you've been looking for extra mirrors when you tow...here ya go. 50 bucks shipped.

    New long-travel lift kit

Was perusing the four-wheeler magazine that just arrived at my door today. Saw the usual page after page of new products for Wranglers and Full-Size trucks, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a 12" Travel lift kit for 98-11 Raners. Rangers you say? Does that mean Explorers as well...

How to: Swapping rear axle in 2nd Gen Explorer

Installing a replacement 8.8 axle in a 2nd Gen Explorer I recently upgraded the axles in my Explorer from 3.73s to 4.10s. I had several upgrades I wanted to do (still do) but this was the most cost effective. The 4.10s will make the truck better off-road, it will pull the camper better, and it...

    Weight Distribution Hitches

I've been looking through the tow rig forum and I realized that though many many threads mention Weight distribution hitches and even recommend them, not one of them goes into what they are, or how they work. Though I do not claim to be an expert on the subject I am aware of the concept of what...

Just a day trip on the sycamore trail

Well some fellow Mesa dwellers dwellers and I headed out for a day trip to the Sycamore trail right here near Mesa. We had a good time. Had to do a little pulling but we made it with no damage, and made some friends.

Installing a new all aluminum two core radiator

I just picked up an all aluminum (no plastic tanks) radiator from Ebay. We shall see if its any good or not as I install it. I'm following the "How to remove and replace your second gen radiator" thread for the removal of my radiator, so I'll skip that part of the procedure, here is a link to...

    Fans for Transmission cooler

Hey I have what I hope is a simple question.. I just bought two 7" fans to mount on the auxilliary transmission cooler. I know how to mount them, but not sure how to wire them. Should they be wired separately? in series? in parallel? I don't want to mess with thermostats, just a simple switch...

    How hot is too hot?

I recently installed a bigger transmission cooler in the Explorer, prior to moving to AZ. It seems to be working just fine, but I haven't really worked the transmission since moving here. I have a ScanGaugeII connected to all the time so I can monitor the transmission temps. My question is...
