Hey y’all! I am pretty sure this question has been answered and I know not much can be done without taking a deep look into said issue. I just bought a 03 explorer with the 4.6 4x4 and I don’t have and forward gears. Not even in 4x4 I don’t. In park and neutral I hear like a clanking sound that speeds up when I give it some gas. In reverse the sound goes away and it will go into reverse. I was told it could be transfer case but I also see these have ****ty transmissions. Also the guy I bought it from says the trans was just rebuilt 2 years ago and did provide me proof. I am getting ready to pull everything but if it’s just a transfer case then I would much rather do that instead of the whole trans.
