ive been kinda watching as Kris Guilbeaux did his conversion a while back. from what ive read it is pretty straight forward, and seems to be simple(but tedious) as far as the suspension goes but heres where i hit the wall: the tranny. i have an automatic, so it raises a few questions like, can i use a manual t-case, and how hard is it to mount up to an automatic transmission? i know anything is possible as long as your pockets are deep enough but im looking for an economical way of approaching this. i know this is going to be expensive but im willing to spend 2 on it. another question is, should i just go ahead and do a solid axle conversion and do all the custom mounts and whatnot for around the same price? i basically want to get fourwheel drive but am trying to find a road(or trail)to get there what is the most economical/reliable way to do it? thanx in advance.
