Yet another "Remember the 80's" thread.

I typically don't care for these trips down memory lane, but this list seems more geared towards the "late" 80's and therefore jogged more childhood memories for me than these lists typically do. Anyway, due to the disturbing mental images, I felt the need to torment others.


You know you grew up in the 1980's if...

1. You ever ended your sentence with "psych".
2. You solved the Rubik’s cube...by peeling off the stickers.
3. You watched the Pound Puppies.
4. You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".
5. You wore biker shorts under your skirts and felt stylish.
6. You yearned to be a member of the Baby-sitters club and tried to start a club of your own.
7. You know that 'Whoa' comes from Joey on "Blossom".
8. Three words: M.C. Hammer.
9. You thought it would be great to have a friend named "Boner".
10. You can sing the entire theme song to "Duck Tales".
11. You played the chipmunks Christmas album all year long!
12. You had plastic streamers on the handlebars of your bike.
13. You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons.
14. You wore a ponytail to the side of your head, or a rat-tail in back.
15. You saw the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen.
16. You got super-excited when it was Oregon Trail day on the new Apple computers with the black screen & neon green type in computer class at school.
17. You made your mom buy you one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side.
18. You played the game "MASH" (Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, House) with friends at school.
19. You wore a Jordache jean jacket and you were proud of it.
20. L.A. GEAR and / or British Knights.
21. Your mother wouldn't let you have Garbage Pail Kids.
22. You remember reading "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and all the Ramona books.
23. You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off".
24. You wanted to be a Goonie.
25. You ever wore fluorescent, neon if you will, clothing.
26. You wanted to be on Star Search.
27. You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off.
28. You wanted a glittery Michael Jackson glove.
29. You had a pair of parachute pants.
30. You took a metal lunch box to school.
31. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the ONLY female smurf.
32. You remember the craze, and then banning of slap bracelets.
33. You still get the urge to use "NOT" at the end of every statement you make.
34. You remember Hyper color T-shirts.
35. You wanted or owned a pair of karate shoes.
36. Barbie and the Rockers was your favorite band.
37. You remember Punky Brewster & her cool bedroom.
38. You loved Howard the duck.
39. You thought Sheera and He-Man should hook up.
40. You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged friendship bracelets.
41. You owned or had friends who owned a pair of Jelly Shoes.
42. After you saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure you couldn't stop saying "I know you are but what am I...infinity."
43. You remember, "I've fallen...and I can't get up!"
44. You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates.
45. You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide.
46. You know not to mix pop rocks and soda (but did it anyway!)
47. You have played with a 'skip-it' or lived for Chinese jump rope.
48. You had or went to a birthday party at McDonald's.
49. You learned oldies songs by watching Alvin and the Chipmunks.
50. You remember Heathcliff the orange cat.
51. You saw the California Raisins Christmas Claymation special.
52. DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!
53. You wore socks over tights with high-top Reeboks.
54. You wore like 8 pairs of socks at once, scrunched down.
55. You wore puffy sport jackets in reverse.
56. MISS MARY MACK MACK MACK ALL DRESSED IN BLACK BLACK BLACK...
57. You remember boom boxes instead of CD players.
58. You kept the piece of cardboard from the new washer/TV/fridge so you could break dance.
59. You remember watching both "Gremlins" movies.
60. You remember the Transformers.
61. You know what it meant to say "care bear stare!!" and you had a favorite.
62. You remember Rainbow Bright and My Little Pony Tales.
63. You remember watching TV thinking Doogie Howser was hot!
64. You remember Alf, the little furry brown alien from Melmac who tried to eat cats.
65. You remember the large amounts of hairspray used (possible Aqua Net).
66. You remember those very stylish headbands.
67. You remember Vicky the Robot (a.k.a. Small Wonder).
68. You remember the beginning of New Kids on the Block.
69. You remember watching The Cosby show.
70. You remember Mr. Belvadere.
71. You remember Michael J. Fox in Family Ties and Back to the Future.
72. You know all the names of the gang from "Saved by the Bell".

I was still a little young, but I remember a lot of that. Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers rocked!! The cartoons were a lot better back then.
 






and everybody remembers the saying 'Where's the Beef':D
 






There's a song by Something Corporate called "Babies of the 80's" that relives the younger days of the band members, its a classic...
 






You thought it would be great to have a friend named "Boner".
Actually, I did have a friend named boner :D . Hey, don't forget The Dukes :eek:
 












i was pretty young, but i remember all of the controversy when Dave Halen ended and a new era of Van Hagar began.

Same here, if it didn't affect me, I remember my sister doing it. Does anyone remember those mini-tape cassetes that held like one song? I remember she had, "Walk like an egyptian" and "Just another manic monday." And a whole slew of other little tiny tapes with songs. I bet those are worth some money these days...
