1996 ford explorer rear doors don't open

I have a 1996 ford explorer that runs well. But the two back doors no longer open from inside. You can pull on the inside handle but it feels like there is no resistance. I was told there is a small clip inside that has to be replaced. Does anyone know what this part is and how to remove the rear door panel.

assuming the child-proof locks are off, you have a common problem. your interior door handles are broken and will need to be replaced.
