I did a front brake job on my '94 4x4 today, and noticed that the 2 plastic thrust washers that sit between the bearing adjustment nut and the hub cam assembly are missing. Who knows for how long. The last time the rotors were off was about 30,000 miles ago at a local shop, but Ford replaced my rotors about 9 years ago. Either one of them could have been the culprit. My question is, how important are these washers, and if I can't buy them (the dealers had no idea what I was talking about on the phone today), can I just make some the same thickness? If so, how thick is that? Thanks for any help.
