I just bought a '03 explorer xlt a couple days ago and want to install my amp and subs while keeping the factory head unit. I removed the head unit and discovered what I suspected...no RCA out puts. I believe I now have to go with a line out converter...but how do I hook it up? What are the exact wires I need to splice into with the line out converter?

Or are there any other ways to hook up an amp for my subs without a line out converter?

PS:what colour is the wire for the power antenna?

YOUR HELP ASAP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED....

I do believe that would work...but it seems as thought the line out converter is more readily available in my area. Ive asked a couple car audio people around here and the say I can splice into the wire right at the back speakers...I think I will give that a try.

I want to know what colour the power antenna wire is on the '03 explorer because thats usually a good wire to tap into with the remote turn on wire for the amp.

You could use the switched 12v for the radio also which is black/pink.
Radio 12v: white/yellow + radio harness
Radio Ground: black/lt. blue - radio harness
Radio Ignition: black/pink + radio harness
Radio Illumination: red/black (dimmer) + radio harness
LF Speaker: org/lt. grn (+) - lt. blu/wht (-)
RF Speaker: wht/lt. grn (+) - grn/org (-)
LR Speaker: gry/lt. blu (+) - tan/yel (-)
RR Speaker: org/red (+) - brn/pnk (-)

If those constant ground and ignition dont match they may be these colors.
12v Constant: Green/Violet or Green/Black
12v Ignition: Pink/Black
Ground: Black/Green
