Increase spark plug gap with msd coils?

No. As long as there is enough voltage to jump the gap you get a bigger spark from the increased gap. This is half the benefit of a hotter coil. It isn't technically "hotter", but it does have more voltage, creating a larger spark that also has the ability to jump a larger gap. Jakee-...

Increase spark plug gap with msd coils?

Absolutely 100% untrue and incorrect misinformation. With forced induction and high compression you CLOSE the gap to keep the spark from blowing out. Opening up the gap would only exacerbate existing ignition problems. With aftermarket coils on any vehicle it's usually safe to open them up...

Is it me or is everyone stuck on flowmaster?

Asolutely not. In fact, the exact opposite is true. It's well known that Flowmaster is among the worst-flowing aftermarket mufflers available. Magnaflow, on the other hand, is amongst the best. Any straight-through muffler is going to flow better than any chambered muffler. -Chris

Do I need to bypass he factory amp for aftermarket speakers?

I tried searching but couldn't find an answer. My buddy gave me a set of Alpine 5x7s. Doing my install research here I noticed a couple of references to bypassing the factory amp. I searched and didn't find any reason why this might have to be done. I've never heard of it on any other...

    Never Buy From Truckaddons.com!!!!

Apparently somebody didn't read what they themselves originally posted since nowhere in the orignal post is it expressed that you were upset about several differet people not knowing the exact specifics of your order. I'm going to tell you a little secret. Human beings are not psychic. They...

    Never Buy From Truckaddons.com!!!!

Wait a sec, let me get this straight. You think it's the company's fault that the parts were backordered from the manufacturer? How exactly did they make that happen, buy out Superlift and stop manufacturing the parts just to piss you off? Come on, dude.

Do all 2nd gens have the harness for the info center?

I found a totalled 2nd gen with the center console information center at a local salvage yard. My '95 Eddie Bauer doesn't have the information center. I'm wondering if the harness for it is there and if I can just swap them or if there is wiring required. Edit: How about the overhead...

95 Air silencer removal/air cylinder mod

The silencer IS the air horn. Leave the tube in the fender. That's what's giving you your cold air. If you take the airbox apart you'll notice that the silencer is part of the front half of the box. Just hack it off about where it meets that plastic ring that's bolted to the airbox at the...

95 Air silencer removal/air cylinder mod

I've done this on two Explorers. Just hack off the air horn at the place where the airbox meets the platic ring that holds it to the fender. You'll still have a functional cold air intake and the intake noise is not noticably louder. This will create an opening larger than the throttle body...

    Need Help with the exhaust

I doubt it's the exhaust. Gibson has one of the most restrictive mufflers on the market. Most stock mufflers flow better than the Gibson. -Chris

    4.slow

The free mods are to hack the airbox (I like to just take off the air horn so the airbox still breathes from the fender) and to remove the MAF screen. That'll net a few horses at the top end. The stock cat-back is a huge restriction. The piping is only 2" after the cat. Explorer Express...

    lots of accesories

That site sucks. That's not a list of everything available for the Explorer. It's a list of everything they have for any vehicle. You have to search through that list to find what you want, click on it, then enter your vehicle again just to see if they have it available for your vehicle...

What size is the stock OHV TB?

I tried a search and couldn't find anything. What size is it? I'm considering a BBK 66mm after I do my exhaust and I 'm trying to figure out if it's worth it. Also, is the stock intake manifold opening large enough for the 66? -Chris

    INH's 4.0 rebuild thread

Are you using the stock heads and intake with that cam? This is the first I've heard of the 410. I'm curious if it works fine with a stock head. -Chris

    Removing roof rack?

I need to repaint my hood (gotta love that Ford paint!), and I'm tossing around the idea of removing the roof rack and welding the holes shut while the paint gun is out. How many holes are in the roof to hold the rack, and does the headliner need to come out to remove the rack? -Chris

    intake

You can put one on. You just need to get the MAF conversion so the '96 version will bolt up. http://www.explorerexpress.com/catalog/pages/stage2v6.html -Chris

Build me a pursuit vehicle (AWD V8)

That's nothing. When I managed a parts store back in '99 a guy came in with 697,000 miles on his '96 Accord. Stock motor and tranny. He did a full tune-up every two weeks. -Chris

    Polishing faded headlights?

My lenses, like every older Ford with plastic headlight housings, yellowed with age and I want to make them look new again. What are you guys using to polish the headlight and turn signal housings on these trucks? -Chris
