Should I take this 2004 XLT?

Hi All, I used to frequent this forum a lot back in 2006-2009 when I had my 2000 XLT. I really enjoyed my Explorer and it was a great first car. Now, I'm back and would like some input on a decision. I've been offered a 2004 Explorer XLT - 4.0 SOHC, 4x4 (if you count an open diff in the back...

    Time to sell?

I have a 2000 Explorer 4X2, SOHC with 103k miles, almost 30k of which i have put on. I have just recently noticed a rattle around 2300 rpm which I understand is the timing chains. I have a few questions... About how many miles do I have before the chains give out? 20k-ish? I don't think it...

    front end noise, bushings?

Do you need to have the front end re-aligned after replacing the sway bar links? It seems to me the alignment shop told me that. I hope I'm making that up because it really doesn't make sense from the pictures, and I don't need another $70 alignment job.

    Yokohama Geolanders

Well i went down to Discount Tire today, prepared for the Yoko's. My stepdad talked me into getting the Michelin LTX M/S, which were the same tire he had on his truck (his are bigger though) and my gosh! I will never own another Goodyear Wrangler. These are smoother, (granted they are new)...

    Yokohama Geolanders

Thanks for the replies. There are way too many tires out there! I wouldnt even mess with it, but the alignment on one front tire is out of whack and i dont want a new goodyear. (see below) I feel like going to discount tire, close my eyes, spinning around in a circle and see...

    Yokohama Geolanders

So i drive my explorer for 20k miles and not a problem with the tires. Off-road, on-road, roads i probably shouldn't be on... well my mom drives it for a day while i'm out of town and gets a nail one of my tires. I don't want to drive with a patched tire and the Goodyear Wranglers i...

    Drive and die

    Drive and die

Well i took it to AutoZone and no codes were stored. I plan on cleaning the IAC, I'm assuming my MAF cleaner will work for this as well? It seems as if it is worse when it is cold outside. It has warmed up considerably and the problem is better. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Drive and die

Lately I have been having a problem with my 4.0 SOHC. At first the idle was a little rough, and every once in a while when I would start the engine and shift to Drive it would die on me. Well everyone on here claims that cleaning the MAF will do wonders so I cleaned it a few weeks ago...

    Xenon lights from LMC truck

Has anybody used the Xenon bulbs that LMC Truck offers in their catalog? I saw them for something like $25 and was wondering if i would see an improvement from OEM bulbs. Thanks.

    Trac-Lok any good???

There is a very slick patch of road on my way home. One night, around 11, i had just gotten off from work and it was raining. I turned onto this patch and without thinking touched the gas very lightly. Next thing i know i've got 90 degrees and am staring at a curb. I was freaking out at well.

    Trac-Lok any good???

yeah the limited slip is why you can't do good burn outs around corners. before i knew i had a limited slip i did a major over steer and almost took out a curb. but at least in the rain when both tires spin its easier to lose control of the rear.

2000 Ford Explorer Issues: Rear Wiper/Radio/Recall

I have the same issue with my rear wiper, but i havent taken the time to diagnose what is wrong with it. I have not had the fade problem, but I thought it only infected older models. The orange recall that you are referring to, I believe, is the in-line fuse Cruise Control Recall. Without the...
