2001 Sport intermittent starting

occasionally (once every few days) my truck just emits a single click when turning the key. 5-6 trys later it starts. (Although Sometimes it doesn't start at all) so it is very unreliable.

I have put a new battery in it and the alternator is new.

Research shows it could be the starter itself or a relay under the hood.

I was wondering if someone here might have an opinion.

Again an occasional single click when turning the key, usually turning the key a few more times gets it to start.

Any ideas? Thanks!

i think it may be the starter solenoid or a relay or a fuse.. i know this is really late, but that my idea.. could you let me/us know what the issue turned out to be? thanks and best of luck!
