I read about the complaints about the dorman unit. My question is if I were to buy the dorman unit and swap out the roll pin for a heavier duty one is there any difference between that and the oem?

Besides the weak pins of the Dorman unit I have also heard of the tolerances being off. Meaning the physical dimensions of the Dorman part are more likely to be a little off here and there than a remanufactured or oem part. You usually don't notice till you try to slide it in and it won't fit just right. But if you change out the pins and it does slide in fine that might be a fix if you want the cheapest option. Also, this would have been better in an existing thread so the info stays together.

I have one of those in my house. It won't fit into the hole (doesn't mesh ?).
I have ordered a Motorcraft one from our sponsor Rockauto - look on this site, they have a coupon code (5% off).
