Still trying to find my way around. Looks like a great site and I look forward to reading the threads. Just purchased a 97 XLT a few hrs ago and Will need to start doing a little Maint. 116k miles. Is there a search engine on this site to try and find similar problems. My explorer makes a whining noise upon deceleration, never heard anything like it. It isn't the rearend. Sounds like something in the transmission is spooling up. The sound goes away upon slight acceleration, there is no clunking, jerking or other sounds. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
