Looking to put in a locker in the rear of my 94.

Well I found out that our Explorer isn't locked. So I am possibly looking at doing an ARB select-able locker. Our Explorer has been swapped to a 2nd gen rear axle for disc brakes and 4:56 gears installed.

Does anyone know if you need to reset the pinion depth when you pull out the carrier. to install the ARB unit?

No you do not need to mess with the pinion at all, and you do not want to if it still has the crush sleeve or you will have to redo that too. You will only have to shim the locker/carrier side to side to get the backlash in-spec. You should be able to use the same shims and then check the backlash and adjust shims if necessary.
