hi i'm new here from iowa. not new to fords but new to explorers. i picked up a 1996 explorer xlt v8 awd with 137,x.. miles for $550. it need's a transmission because right now it only has 1st and 2nd. i have found my donor it's a rolled early 1997 mountaineer. i'm paying $200 for the engine and $100 for the transmission. the engine is going in my 1980 mustang or my 1979 fairmont, i haven't decided yet. i was wondering how much of a job is it to swap out the transmission from underneeth? can anyone point me to any links? has anyone ever did one of these on a v8 awd? all the info i can find is for the v6. i need any and all help, thanks.
