I took a trip up to the mountains this weekend, and managed to find out (at a VERY inopportune moment/location) that my X suffers from the issue of having no engine braking when put in 1st gear manually. I've found multiple threads talking about the TSB (and part # 3L5Z-7M203-JA), and dealers wanting hundreds of dollars for a "relatively" simple fix. Everything else transmission wise seems to be fine (I have 2nd and 3rd, and reverse works fine- they seem to be related issues in the TSB)
Has anyone had this problem and done it themselves? How involved is the job? I keep reading that it's probably the Coast Clutch solenoid going bad, is that right?
EDIT:
Well dang, I just found this Dead Link Removed on another forum. Any further advice from anyone who has done this job?
