Rough start when cold , not MAF or IAC .

Starts rough ( shuddering , shaking etc. ) and continues. If I turn the engine off and then re-start , it starts perfectly and runs very smoothly. Any ideas ? I have already cleaned the MAF and IAC . All help appreciated Brian

Explorer decided not to start yesterday ! Cranked well, no start. Mechanic said the battery was nearly shot. Put a new one in and now it starts great every time ! Whoda thunkit ??? B

my 4.0 shoc would do the same thing when cold, have somebody tap on the mass airflow sensor while crancking over, it should start for you. another thing the O-ring on the intake upper and lower go bad all the time, and they are easy to replace.
