Thread 'Converting the Electric Transfer Case Shift Motor to Manual'
A while back I mentioned that I had an idea for converting the electric shift motor for the Explorer Transfer Case into a manual drive unit. Here is a write up with some pictures of my first attempt. Perhaps this can spark some curiosity and engineering efforts amongst the Explorerforum crowd. Total cost of the parts for this particular build up were limited to the cost of the epoxy kit (about $4.95) and the crank (about $3.00) the rest of the parts were things I had on hand. So...
Thread '5th Gen Fuel pump replacement cut the floor'
Hi, I am posting this thread with hope to help anyone who has the same issue as i had. I han issue with fuel pressure, code P008A, P0087. Did a lot of research and a lot of people fixed this issue by changing the hpfp( high pressure fuel pump), so I did that. Didnt fix the issue. Send the car to an autoservice nearby they did a diagnosis which cost me 162$ and concluded that the issue is with the fuel pump in the tank. They said that it costs 2250$ to change both fuel pumps in the tank...
Thread 'Front Coilovers for 4th Gen Lift'
In my quest to maximize the off road capability of my rig, I was getting ready to do some sort of custom swap similar to Ronin8002 https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/threads/ronin8002s-4th-gen-custom-coilover-conversion.376292 where he custom welded a bunch of mounting hardware to get a 5" coilover into the front. As you guys know, aftermarket support for the 4th gen is minimal, so I figured this was the only way to go to get standard coilovers in the front. Instead, I discovered that Fox...
[EDIT: This is a series of threads, 5 in all. Each covers an aspect of the rebuilding of an A4LD. It's long, but hopefully worthwhile. Here is a link to the parts if you want to jump ahead. Thread '2020 ST Chassis Photos'
I put our ST on my lift today and photographed the undercarriage while everything is still nice and clean. I am providing this for future reference. I was surprised at the lower control arm setup. I have never before seen a two piece lower control arms or two lower ball joints before.
Thread 'Solid Rear Axle Swap'
Hey guys, I've been meaning to post on this for a while. Last summer, I decided to go all in on upgrading the off-road capability of my Explorer, with a goal of seeing what the Explorer might have been if Ford had decided to compete with the Wrangler and 4Runner 15 year before the Bronco was released. First on the chopping block was the independent rear suspension, which as you guys know, is pretty hard to lift and has pretty bad articulation anyway. So it was time for a solid rear axle...
We can post here for any FORSCAN discussions on changing settings. 2020 Explorer Forscan Settings http://www.trona-tech.net/forscan-codes-for-2020-ford-explorer/
Alright, it took a while but I’ve finished a water pump and timing stuff replacement on my ‘13 xlt. I didn’t really find a one-stop resource for the process so I thought I’d write one up. This was done in my driveway over the course of about 3 afternoons. This can be done much quicker though, even by someone who is unsure of themselves regarding this job. There are several reasons it took me so long: I have kids and getting them going in the mornings is time consuming, my in-laws were...
Review of 2025 Explorer by Explorer Forum Moderators - Invited to Dearborn
Please Watch our Driving Impressions Video here: Watch for the Easter eggs ;) It is April 1990 on a crisp sunny day in South Texas, and an 11-year-old boy is sitting in the front seat of his father’s 1981 burgundy red Ford Mustang. This was a simple trip to the grocery store with his father. They turn right onto the main road, and as they pass the local Ford Dealership, the father asks his son, “What kind of car is THAT?”. But the young boy has already seen it, and he is wide eyed and...
