Afternoon guys,
I'm considering buying a used 2nd generation Explorer. They never really caught on in the UK, I believe mainly due to the much publicised issues and also because the car is a bit of a monster for UK roads which are generally much smaller than in the US. As a consequence, the cost of a used explorer in the uk is extremely low compared with otheres of a similar size.
As such I think it will make a great base for a project. I'm planning on buying a North Face edition, as low mileage and good as I can get for about 3/4k in USD.
I am then proposing to lift 3 inches using the PA 883 kit and then again with shackles and torsion bar. Then get some 33 inch x 12.5 tyres on steel rims - 15x8 (I think!).
I think I will then have it vinyl wrapped - something like a very dark grey, tint the windows and mount some lights on the bumper.
Appreciate any comments, especially negative ones as I would prefer to understand any pitfalls in my master plan before I start work!
Much appreciated.
