It all started in 1997 when my dads friend brought over his brand new white 1997 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 and I was hooked. I mean I always loved the Explorer, I guess it started as a little kid watching Jurassic Park, but once the 2nd gen came out I always wanted one. My mom refused to part ways with her Toyota Previa Minivan and of course it never died so getting an Explorer as a replacement wasn't an option. I've had over 15 cars (Mostly Mustangs) but finally I decided I needed to find me an Explorer!! Spent weeks looking for a 1999-2001 Eddie Bauer 5.0 but there wasn't one in my price range, I stumbled across a few XLTs but they were a disaster. I then decided to widen my search and look at Mountaineers and thats when I found this...
Well I got my Short Throw Shifter today. I don't have any befores, but it was like any of the 5spd shifters out there (just prolly ALOT sloppier). Here's some after pics tho. OK boys, This is my first post. I've been lurking around the forum for a little while and decided to post some pics of my current "project"... This truck's got some history behind it. My parents owned the X when it was new. Long story short, after a tree fell on it, we repaired it and my sister drove it for awhile. After that she sold it to her husband's cousin. After a night of alleged drinking, he decided to take his aggression out on the golf course that he worked for. This little X caused over 15K damage to the golf course, but on the last "hole", he flipped it and went to jail. It sat on it's top all night. I acquired the truck by paying the wrecker fees. It made the news. (See the attached article)...
