Found this out while working on my caliper from hell and thought it might be useful:
When installing new caliper slide pins, they may bind and cause a stuck caliper because out of the box, they are very stiff. try using a visegrips and squeazing them a few times to loosen them up. then very SPARINGLY use some caliper slide grease. Install in the caliper and viola! the caliper is easy to move with your hand. Without squeezing them to work them loose, it is VERY hard to move the caliper with your hand, or even a hammer for that matter, and I can't imagine this can be good for your braking system.
