A friend has a 2011 Tacoma, it’s base model 2wd standard cab, 4 cyl engine, auto trans, 3.42 axle, and needs tires.
I’m helping her find tires and she can’t swing new tires right now.
Stock size is 215/70/15, about 27”.
I found some good used tires that are 225/70/15, about 28”.
Wanting opinions on if that 1” larger would be too much, I’m thinking transmission here, don’t want to kill it.

I broke a U joint on a loaded semi, 80,000 lbs and my neighbors 4 cylinder tacoma pulled me down the street. I figured after seeing that they were indestructible. I don't think a slightly larger tire size is going to hurt anything other than how quickly it can accelerate.

I’d run them without worry. My buddy had a 4 cylinder Taco and he had at least 30s on it.

Nice. Aside from having a fear of killing transmissions with a bigger tire (my old 92), the 3.52 ratio seeming low for a 4cyl (Rangers get up to 4.10), so I needed reassurance. Thanks guys.
