I am new to this site and have been searching and reading many threads regarding tire sizes. I just bought a 2002 Sport Trac 4x4 and want to upgrade my tires to 265/75-16's. The Chart many refer to says I should be OK with no rubbing, lifts or mods, however, other threads say I would need a lift or tightened torsion bars and shackles, which I don't want to do. I will appreciate anyone who has added this size tire with the stock suspension to let me know either way whether they fit. Thanks.

It depends on the wear on your torsion bars and leaf packs. If I had to guess, you'll have rubbing with that size without any modifications. You'll definitely rub on the sway bar as I can attest from experience.

Sound like you'll need 265/70R16.

Here's mine at stock height with 265/70/16's, no trimming needed...

and then with a 1.75" t and lift shackles with same tires...

With 75's you'l need to do some trimming but shouldn't need to lift it.

If you're fine with trimming, get the 265/75. If not, get the 265/70. But if you ever think you would want to lift in the future get the bigger ones. Looks so much better with that extra inch of sidewall

265/75-16?

Thanks everyone. When you say I would need to do some trimming, do you mean inside the wheel-well or the actual fenders?

Just the plastic cladding trim. Do a quick search for Lono's trimming how to. Very detailed.

i went with a set of 265 75 16 and i have no lift. i had to do some trimming but only on the passenger rear inner liner. I used a pair of metal snips to cut it. i rub up front when i go full lock but once i do my lift i should be good

265/75-16?

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I just put 265/75/16 Kelly Safari TSR's on my '04 with about a one inch TT. No triming needed. Just used a few zip strips to pull back the plastic trim a little. I also added 1.25" spacers in the rear to bring the wheels out. You'll be fine.

Batman, how do you like the kelly tsr, I've been looking to get a set of those?

MJ, I've run about a thousand miles on them so far and I really like them. There is some road noise but that's to be expected with such an aggressive tread. They look GREAT on the truck. I went with the 10 ply instead of the 6 so the ride is a bit stiffer. That is mitigated somewhat since I just put new Sensa tracks on all four corners. The links below are to the pics of the tires installed on OEM 16" rims.

I have Cooper ATP 265/75R16 on stock wheels with 1.5 inch tt in the front it rubs a bit at full lock.. and a bit in the back have spacers to install when it gets better outside..

My old '05 with 265/75's and a TT/shackle lift.

I just bought that exact size and have no problem with rubbing. I had already done the TT about a inch and a half to level it out though.

Not that it matters (since its a second gen) but I have 265/75/16's on my 97 eddie and they dont rub at all anywhere. Btw, since your going with that size why not just get a set of 31x10.5-16s. Its the same size. A265/75/16 after standard conversion is 31.6x10.4. And they do make more street friendly all terrains in that size. Just my .02
