I will consider today a pre naches shake down run, I think I have a few things to fix:D

Time for some new doors and fenders... I am suprised no one broke an axle

you had enough air time, you may want to get a pilots license

Just a word to the wise;

Seems like enforcement has stepped up this year. Make sure your are legal if you're gonna be on the pavement.

Everything, including mud flaps, fender flares, lights and especially doors.;)

Doors aren't required to be legal. And I have doors, they're just not stock.

Yes they are.

They were both told by the citing deputies that only vehicles that came from the factory with removable doors (i.e. a wrangler) is allowed to drive on public roads without doors.
Both were on 410 between Little Naches road and Whistlin' Jacks while either to or from getting gas. The girl with the two door was also cited for no flares or mud flaps and for her front bumper being too hi. She *was* doing a few things wrong...
Hey Ryan, I was also one of the few people who got ticketed for lack of doors on my XJ. I got pulled over right after turning on to HWY 19 or whatever with the guys from Masterpull. Alex (with the white masterpull XJ) and myself were spoken to about no doors and I was issued a $124 ticket. Alex had tube doors, so apparently he got away with it, but I was less fortunate. After reading through the law, the XJ does not have factory removable doors, therefore it is illegal to drive with them removed (except for on private land). I have heard of people arguing the point about a "3 inch lip" and mirrors and what-not, but that still only applies to Wranglers. I guess I could consider myself lucky, however, because my windshield was severly cracked, I had no mirrors, you could argue that there was too much mud on the Jeep, and my bushwacker flares were literally hanging off and I only got ticketed for the lack of doors.

BUT, it's up to you, I'm just givin ya a heads up.

how close is our camping spot to a trail?

Yeah, they were bad when we were up there. Chris got pulled over on the 1900 for no flaps or flares, the cop told him he was ok as long as he didn't go on 410. Our group was heading up the logging road to get to the start of 676 and we ran into another cop who stoped us all checking for tabs. He also told everyone in our group to get flaps and flares on our rigs and not to drive on 410, he warned us that the state patroll would not be as nice... We only saw them on friday, the rest of the weekend we saw rock buggies and other non-street legal rigs driving all over the roads. We ran into a few others that went to the gas station on 410 and got busted. The cops we ran into were cool and just wanted to make sure we were making an effort to be street legal, I will be putting my mud flaps back on before I go but I dont think anyone will have a problem.

Its a good test for axles.... I looked under the rig today and found a torn bump stop but everything else looks good. I bet my ball joints wouldnt take much more of that...

Hmm, worst case scenario is I'll just pull the camper off the f-350 and trailer it to the trailer head if I have too. It's only a 5 minute load and unload for short trips.

I'll see what I can do about mud flaps(GAY!!!)

DWD, we did a little shake down run before naches along with a little flight testing...

We could camp at the end of the washed out road (milk pond?) and avoid any driving on paved roads (and be a little closer to the rocks) but we would miss the best parts of 676 unless we back track. I liked camping by the river like last time but Im up for whatever. Im only putting mudflaps back on because I dont want to give them any "reason" to pull me over, as long as you look kinda legal you wont have a problem. Hell, my tow rig has 35's and no flaps or flares and the sherif just waved as I drove by... it also wasn't covered in mud...

DOOR BS

Technically, all vehicles are equipped with removeable doors. Some just require more work to remove. I think it's crap that they write a law like that, much less have the a-hole gene embedded in thir DNA to enforce it.

the red neck axle test...
